The Challenge
Our region has long served as the engine room of the state. However, we now face a sobering forecast. Workforce opportunities are evolving and the priorities governing our natural and industrial resources are shifting. We are currently witnessing a profound transformation in how mining, renewables, horticulture, and agriculture intersect and compete for land, water, and talent.
These shifts impact every layer of our region. They affect heavy industry and the small businesses that support our communities. Without a unified and proactive response, we face the erosion of our social fabric. This could lead to shrinking schools, disappearing health services, and the closure of foundational businesses. We refuse to let this be our story.
Our Purpose
The Regional Futures Round Table (RFRT) is an integral part of the Frontier CQ ecosystem. We exist to solve cross-sector challenges and leverage opportunities that cannot be realised independently. Our ultimate goal is enduring social and economic prosperity.
To be successful, we must be clear on how we fit into the regional landscape. We are not a standalone entity. We are an active part of the ecosystem. Together, we can bring to action a unified strategy for the social and economic prosperity of our regions.
How We Interface with the Ecosystem
The RFRT operates at the heart of a collaborative network. Frontier CQ, local government, and state policy provide the necessary Mandate, Strategy, Data, and Roadmap. This structure contains the broader ecosystem and helps to inform us of what is happening, who is doing it, and where the gaps lie.
We sit within the Frontier CQ ecosystem to leverage opportunities and solve problems that are too complex for any one sector to handle in isolation. We exist specifically to address challenges that require cross-sector representation.
Our primary functions include:
-
Solving Cross-Sector Problems: Addressing issues that exist within the ecosystem.
-
Removing Roadblocks: Leveraging the collective power of the round table to clear obstacles to progress.
-
Policy Alignment: Ensuring local governance and statutory frameworks underpin all regional action.
-
Collaborative Execution: Providing feedback and driving the execution of the regional roadmap.
The RFRT Ecosystem Relationship
The following diagram illustrates how the Regional Futures Round Table integrates with Frontier CQ, State Mandates, and Local Government to drive social and economic development.

Opportunities to Get Involved
The future of our region is not pre-determined. It depends on collective action.
Sector Representative
We seek high-level executive leaders to commit their expertise to this action-oriented body. As a Sector Representative, you will attend quarterly meetings to solve regional constraints and act as the principal conduit between the Round Table and your industry.
Strategic Sponsorship
While membership is non-financial for invited representatives, we offer the opportunity for organisations to accelerate the RFRT's architecture. Sponsorship funds the dedicated project management required to keep the project pipeline moving between meetings.
Regional Advocacy & Alignment
For organisations already driving regional strategies, this pillar focuses on ensuring your existing plans align with the RFRT execution engine. By sharing data and synchronising goals, we ensure that regional projects have the combined weight of all local bodies behind them when seeking major investment.
